A Rotherham-headquartered bed maker, which can trace its history back to 1893, has provided a four-poster bed for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Kensington Palace apartment.

Healthbeds was asked by the royal couple to make a bed like the one they had slept in at their former Anglesey residence.

"We got a call out of the blue from one of the Duchess' staff asking if we could provide one like the model they slept in," Healthbeds' David Smeaton told the Daily Mail. The businessman said that his company was "thrilled to have royalty buying one of our beds".

A four-poster 'Natural Choice 4500' bed has now been installed.

Since 1893 The Smeaton family are the founders and owners of Healthbeds and have been making beds since 1893.
