Rotherham enterprises in the creative sector are being given the opportunity to secure funding via two government backed initiatives.

Creative England has continued its programme of investment for creative and digital businesses with the launch of a new Business Investment Fund of £1m.

Supported by the Government's Regional Growth Fund, interest free loans of between £60,000 and £100,000 are available. It is open to SMEs who are looking to develop new software, applications and content for expanding markets such as TV, feature film, E-Learning and government services.

Jim Farmery, director of business development at Creative England, said: "Creative businesses bring energy, enterprise and innovation to cities and regions across England. Our funds support companies with innovative ideas for content development that have commercial potential but are struggling to get off the ground."

The deadline for registrations of interest is August 21st 2013.

Creative Industry Finance, an Arts Council initiative, are also offering business development support and access to finance for creative industry enterprises. The initial one-year pilot of the scheme is taking place in London and the Yorkshire and Humber regions, with a total investment of £300,000 across the two regions.

The programme provides practical advice and support for creative entrepreneurs wishing to develop and grow their business as a viable commercial enterprise.

In addition to the business support package, a limited number of business development loans of £5,000 to 25,000 are available for successful applicants, repayable over a maximum of three years.

The fund is looking to support artists, writers, performers, designers, producers, promoters, publishers and innovators, where creative content is at the heart of the business.
