A call has gone out to local business leaders to join forces and have their say on future strategic plans for the Sheffield City Region.

The Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is looking for experts and leaders working in the fields of Logistics and Business & Financial Services to establish two new ‘Sector Groups’.

The two new Sector Groups will join the LEP’s seven existing Sector Groups which represent the views of businesses in Advanced Manufacturing, Creative & Digital Industries, Health Care Technology, Low Carbon, Property Construction, Retail, and Sports Leisure & Tourism.

This June, the LEP is inviting business leaders to official launch events where they will have the opportunity to express their interest in joining the new groups. The launch events will be hosted by LEP Chairman James Newman. He said:

“This year, the potential impact of the LEP’s Sector Groups has been elevated to another level, as the LEP Board starts work on the Sheffield City Region’s Economic Growth Strategy.

“Sector Group members have real influence over decisions which will drive economic growth in the Sheffield City Region.

“The LEP is looking for its two new Sector Groups to have a good mix of business people – to provide skills, experiences and insight from businesses which span the whole City Region.”

The launch events are expected to be popular and anyone wishing to attend will need to register online at

Details for the two launch events are:

Tuesday 18 June  - 7.30-9.30am - Logistics – Doncaster Sheffield Airport
Tuesday 25 June - 7.30-9.30am - Business & Professional Services – AMP Technology Centre

Further information on the events can be found on the Sheffield City Region website.
