Over the weekend, the Sheffield City Region played host to a delegation of business leaders from Chinese technology companies based in Shanghai.

Organised by Creative Sheffield, with support from the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and RiDO (Rotherham Investment and Development Office), the inward trade and investment mission included business-to-business meetings with Sheffield City Region companies, a reception hosted by Leader of Sheffield City Council, Councillor Julie Dore, and even a session of the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible Theatre.

Visiting companies from China included Shanghai Technology Innovation Centre, Shanghai International Medical Zone Group, Shanghai Yangpu Technology Business Incubator and Shanghai MingXiang Electronic Technology Company.

Joanna Lavan, Manager, International Relations and Trade at Creative Sheffield, commented, "This was a very successful inward mission, and provides an excellent foundation to develop stronger relationships with Shanghai based technology companies. This could potentially lead to future opportunities for the Sheffield City Region in terms of both trade and inward investment. We are looking to arrange a reciprocal visit to Shanghai later this year."

Ellen Cutler, Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Investment Director said, “The LEP is committed to building strong relationships with businesses from across China and around the world which pave the way for future trade and inward investment.”
