Some of the world's finest engineering and manufacturing brains have spent the last month working on potentially their toughest production challenges - creating the finest possible moustaches!

In late October the call went out across the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham to grow the best moustache during November in support of the Movember charity campaign.

After a month of designing, refining and manufacture, the competition cumulated in an upper lip beauty parade with the efforts of over 20 of the 'Mo-Bros' judged by Richard Caborn; with over 30 years experience of facial hair himself.

Following rigorous scrutiny and investigation the awards went to the winner, Dave Boram of Rolls Royce with Martin Rowe of the University of Sheffield's AMRC with Boeing a close second.

The money raised from the competition will now be collected and sent on to the Movember charity; and in the best traditions of the AMP and the quest for continual improvements, plans are already in train to make next year's Movember competition bigger and better.

The Movember funds raised in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers - prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised are directed to programmes run directly by Movember and its men's health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research.
